The Power of Moms

Recently I have discovered a whole world of Mormon Mommy Bloggers who are engaged in some amazing work online.  My daughter told me about Shawni Pothiers Blog 71 Toesa few months ago. Shawni has several sisters and in laws who are dedicated Mom Bloggers and as I have explored the work they are doing, I felt it would be a great idea to share some of their links and thoughts on my own blog.

Shawni’s sister Saren has a web site called The Power of Moms A Gathering Place for Deliberate Mothers. Saren also writes a family blog called Five Kids in Five Years.

I don’t have much time for blog reading, as I spend quite a bit of my time doing my own internet work and reading about politics, but I have been so impressed with the intention these women put into their Mothering that I felt like a shout out was in order.

Final Prep before the World Economy Collapses

Some final things to do to prepare for a time of chaos around the collapse of the Economy.

Economic Congruency: Ayn Rand points to the logical “next step” of Obamas Financial Policies

So the President is going to propose a new economic plan after his vacay at Marthas Vineyard.

He should not waste the mental energy attempting to put it together, Ayn Rand has already done the heavy lifting on that topic by taking Collectivism in America to its logical conclusion with Directive 10-289 in the chapter Miracle Metal of Atlas Shrugged.

Ayn used Fiction to help her readers understand what Marxism “Looked Like” in real life by creating fictional characters who could be played today by any of the secular humanists currently embedded in our National Government.

The Economics of Natural Mothering

I have been planning to write this post for some time now, years it feels like, and someday I plan to encapsulate these thoughts into a book written for young women. For now, I’ll try to take the mishmash of my thoughts and attempt to get something readable into the blogosphere.

I have spent untold hours reading commentary on economics these past few decades (Bar none fav author is Thomas Sowell). And with the upsurge in concerns about the economy, it feels like so many of my favorite authors have been waxing far more eloquent than I with conservative ideas for fixing the broken parts of the American Economy.

Some of the most recent liberal and conservative ideas being thrown around include limiting family size to 2 children, decelebritizing mothers who give birth to multiples, and there has been a whole lotta talk about some sort of a ginormous government stimulus to “create jobs“.

From the presidents own web site he encapsulates the feds doing the following for we the people: (All on the nickel of our future children and grandchildren)

UPDATE: Maryann Godboldo case

For Background on Maryannes case click here

More Here at Natural News

(NaturalNews) The horrific saga of Maryanne Godboldo’s battle with domestic terrorists in the government of her home state of Michigan appear to finally be coming to an end. The Detroit Free Press reports that two higher courts have confirmed the ruling of a lower court several months ago that Godboldo’s refusal to administer the dangerous Risperdal drug to her daughter was fully legal, and that all charges and actions taken against her by the state were unwarranted. In case you missed the story, Child Protective Services (CPS) in Michigan sent a SWAT team and tank to Godboldo’s Detroit home back in April after the mother refused to keep giving her 13-year-old daughter Risperdal (risperidone), a dangerous schizophrenia drug that had been causing her daughter to experience severe adverse reactions. Godboldo’s doctor had recommended that she discontinue use of the drug, but CPS felt otherwise, and decided to launch a full-scale terrorist raid on the woman’s home, where they proceeded to illegally kidnap her daughter.

Blessing the Way, a new type of Baby Shower…

Early in my pregnancy, I was clear that the greatest gift I could give to my husband and children was the experience of the blessing way. I felt somewhat shy and embarrassed to organize my own ceremony – but had a very clear vision of how I wanted it to go. I felt confident that if I did nothing else during this child’s gestation – the feelings and power associated with a family blessing way would be the most important “prenatal care” we could experience. So, being the little red hen that I am, I set out to create the ceremony that would serve our family best.

Saudi Life: Many Mothers Routinely “Cut” at Delivery

Saudi Life: Many Mothers Routinely “Cut” at Delivery

written by, Aisha Al Hajjar

“THERE is a dreaded procedure routinely performed on expectant mothers that makes most cringe and fear their birth experience.  It’s called an episiotomy.  An episiotomy is a procedure in which a surgical incision is made in the tissues of the birth canal just before the baby’s head is born.  This cut causes trauma to the woman’s genital region, requires stitches after the birth, and is a matter that is considered a violation of the woman’s human rights amongst natural childbirth advocates.

This medical intervention has been done routinely for decades.  However, those who stay current with scientific research have all but abandoned the procedure.  Sadly, I find it lingering on as a matter of routine in the practice of several of the local obstetricians I have personally spoken to.  I also receive similar feedback from many of my clients who have asked me about the procedure after discussing it with their doctors in both Saudi Arabia and in Egypt.

Progressive Parenting: Interview with Dr. Stuart Fischbein – BREECH BIRTH

Breech Birth with Dr. Stuart Fischbein (click to listen)

Dr. Stuart Fischbein is a strong supporter of patients rights to informed consent and refusal. He believes a patient has the right to choose her own path given true and not skewed informed consent. Following that tenet, just as a woman should be able to choose to have an elective c/section she should be able to choose not to have one, as well. He believes the American system of hospital based obstetric practice has been eroding those choices for women for quite some time. Due to concerns of economics, expediency and fears of litigation women are being coerced to make choices that may not be in their best interest.

On this show we will be discussing Breech Birth.  He believes that term breech presentation should be treated as just a variation of normal.

Home Crafted Soap

The kit made twenty small bars of soap. Then I purchased two more kits and made some Rose Oil soap and included the petals from a dozen red roses.

My daughters will be heading back to school in a few days and it was so fun to have Shelly come ask me if she could take some of my soap back with her. I happily handed her half a dozen bars.

This was a fun project.  And except for the dishwasher exploding with an overwhelm of bubbles when I tossed my double boiler in without scraping the hardened soap, relatively painles, and a new way to create lucious soap for just a few dollars.

Happy Soapmaking!

Is the World Economy going to Collapse? And what does that mean for those of us who Prepare?

Tues. 29 Nov. 2011 Glenn interviewed Michele Bachmann, asking the Minnesota congresswoman a myriad questions on topics ranging from how Americans can prepare for potentially “very difficult” times ahead. Citing the ripple effects — namely a recession — America will feel as a result of a European Union collapse, Bachmann expressed disappointment in the fact that “we are hearing more about the Kardashian wedding” than the impending economic implosion of the EU and subsequent U.S. risk.

They also spoke about foreign and domestic policy to the economy and crisis preparedness. At one point, Bachmann spoke about the dangers of “the new axis of evil” comprising Iran, Syria, North Korea, China and Russia.

Both Glenn and Bachmann pointed out Russia’s role in aiding some of the world’s most notorious aggressors and state sponsors of terror — from providing Russian chemists and engineers to aid Iran in its development of nuclear weapons to sending Russian warships to aid the Syrians in their defense.
“The UN has reported that 250 children were tortured and killed and Russia sends warships to Syria to defend Syria,” Glenn stated in disbelief.

Final Prep before the world economy collapses  Jenny Hatch shares a few practical tips for final prep before things really start to wobble economically.

A Mormon Mommy Blogger Responds to Harold Bloom

NYT: Will This Election Be the Mormon Breakthrough?

In this article Bloom dumps on the Latter Day Saints as well as the Tea Party, so for me it was a double whammy…

“Rather than living in reality they yield to what oddly are termed “cultural” considerations: moral and spiritual, or so their leaders urge them to believe. Under the banners of flag, cross, fetus, exclusive marriage between men and women, they march onward to their own deepening impoverishment. Much of the Tea Party fervor merely repeats this gladsome frolic.”

The article was such a mish mash of incoherent blatherings that it was difficult to recognize what point Professor Bloom was trying to make.  Professors of his stature often forget that Humanism is in fact a religion. A religion as easily defined and practiced as my Mormon Faith.

His Point seemed to be:

Tea Partying Mormons influencing the electorate with their morals = BAAAADDDD

Secular Humanistically Inclined Yale Professors of English dumping on those of us who teach our families eternal truths = GOOOOOODDD (Bloom fails to question if his lifes work and decades of indoctrinating the nations youth in relativistic nothingness has led to students pooping on cop cars as a form of “speech”)Read More »

Blogging Mothers Magazine November 2011 Edition

This edition of the Magazine contains some of my recent content parsing the Occupy Wall Street Movement with the Tea Party.  I was involved in the early planning of the Denver Events and partnered with several activists to organize a variety of events around Tax Day, the 9-12 events, as well as the Health Care Debates before Obama Care was voted into place.  This activism gave me a birds eye view of the movement from the inside out and so I shared some thoughts in several of this months articles.

I also shared some movies created to share my journey to Sovereign Mothering as well as favorite radio show interviews with health freedom activists Leonard Horowitz and Sherri Kane as well as Freedom Activist Barbara Hartwell.

As always my online work is dedicated to the generations of children yet to be born on Planet Earth and I hope and pray the various forces that are currently in place to ensnare Families in a web of deceit around Health Freedom will be exposed and held accountable for their crimes against humanity.

WANTED FOR GENOCIDE

“About twenty years ago my husband and I conducted enough research on Vaccines that we made the decision not to vaccinate our five children for anything.  We trained to become Childbirth Educators and the little bits of information gleaned from the various books, articles, and research papers we studied were enough to convince us that the whole field of Vaccination was Hookum, and would prove toxic and deadly to our childrens brains and bodies.

Fast forward to 2009 and after years of Childbirth and Family Activism, and many hours of reading on the whole pandemic scam, I finally was able to put all of the various world government goals together like a huge puzzle, with the vaccines being the final piece of the whole big pathetic picture.”

I am very sorry Dr. Amy that my public suspicion of you is gathering steam and people are throwing around the idea that you are a paid shill for ACOG.

When we were debating at Salon last spring, I honestly could not believe that anyone will half a brain could believe the things that you write.
And it was in a letter I wrote to Salon that I first began to explore the idea publicly that you are a paid harpie.

For the past six years I have relentlessly debated Vaccines on this blog and on the web, mostly at Free Republic but also at the personal blog of the late Cathy Seipp, (who I believe was a paid shill for Drug Companies), as well as the comment sections of her articles at National Review Online. Cathys Blog no longer exists, and her archive at NRO is spotty in regards to finding the posts where she unilaterally pushes the vaccine on teens.  The old chats at Free Republic are still on the web, but the trackbacks to my blog no longer function because I have been hacked so many times.

Most of the links in my old posts are dead, but I saved enough of the debates  here on my blog so that you the reader can get a sense of what was being discussed.

WRITING, BLOGGING, AND MAKING TIME FOR HOMESCHOOL….AGAIN

For eight years during the 90′s I was one big lactating mass of motherhood.

I started nursing Allison in Jan of 92 and did not stop until eight years later when Andrew turned 3 in the fall of 99.

I have always been a diligent journal writer and some of my best stuff has been written while in the throes of new mother sleep deprivation.  Most of the content for my first three books was captured from my personal journals written during those early years mothering my older children.  It sort of became a running joke in my journal that I would begin the entry by writing, “I should be washing dishes right now, but I feel like writing.”

I can promise you reader, the dishes did eventually get done, but I am so grateful that I had the focus back then to lay housework aside every once in a while and share what was in my heart in the pages of those journals.

This morning I awoke at four am and found myself feeling the same old tug, to go to the computer and start typing…

When Andy, the baby in the above picture, was three, I weaned him on his third birthday.  I had weaned Jeff at the same time and for consistencies sake, decided to stop on September 7th, 1999.  Three weeks after the wean I had this burst of emotional, mental, and physical creativity hit my body and mind like a tornado of renewal and force.  It was real and I realized how much of my own energy and essence had been invested into my children during those eight years of on demand, baby led, LLL Style, breastfeeding.

As the energy hit the Holy Spirit whispered, “NOW it is time to write Jen”.  I had experienced many spiritual promptings during those years that I was supposed to write about Mothering and continually felt frustrated that I did not have the time or energy to write anything more than a few paragraphs every couple of days.

I began with my first book A Mothers Journey.  Every morning I would wake up at four am, sneak down to the basement where our family computer was stashed and start typing.  I would type for an hour or two until the children woke up and then I would begin my day of mothering.  I found that I was able to edit with the family around, but I could not find the mental energy to type unless if it was quiet and I was alone undisturbed…

Thus began my writing adventures. I feel like I should insert here that I am not a writer.  I don’t have any training in writing and make many grammatical and speling errors in my books and blog posts.  I also don’t have much time for editing and perfecting of books and posts.  All of my books, blog posts, and comments on the internet are riddled with typos and a general smashing of the English Language. And my ability to communicate has constantly been questioned by those English Teacher trolls who generally have nothing to add to a debate beyond, “Hey Jenny Hatch, you suck as a writer because you mispeled a word.”  I usually ignore these people as a waste of my precious time, but it does get annoying, they seem to think that those of us sharing on the web have to pass some certified test of grammer and syntax and word usage and editing and punctuation!!!!! if we don’t we are somehow not worthy to rite or share our thoughts on the web.  Rong! We Mom Bloggers are just as able and willing to add decent web Kontent to the Marketplace of Idears as anyone in the werld.Read More »

TOP 25 POSTS AT THE NATURAL FAMILY BLOG – VACCINES, VACCINES, AND MORE VACCINES

Although I have stated that the Natural Family BLOG is dedicated to homebirth, my top posts from the past two years might indicate something else.

Since I started writing this blog in 2005, one of the main goals has been to help families get to the root cause of illness.  I was a vaccine damaged child and feel that my life was altered because of a bad reaction to my inoculations.  I have struggled with lifelong DEADLY chemical and food sensitivities.  With more runs to the ER than anyone in the family, I have been one big histamine storm after another since I was two.  Asthma, Allergies, and skin problems were and are my daily struggle and although I have been greatly aided by my willingness to cleanse my liver and gall bladder and use alternative healing as much as possible, I still struggle with asthma and allergies.

I just went into my stats and realized that most of my top posts, in terms of traffic, for the past few years are all tied to vaccines.  People are looking for this information and want to educate themselves with the facts.  I thought it might be a good idea to link to my top twenty five posts to make it easier for you the reader to find this information.  With the debate raging in the Blogosphere over gardasil this past week my traffic has jumped exponentially and many new visitors are coming in for a look for the first time.

Since my Blog is dedicated to Healthy Families here are the top posts, most of which have to do with Vaccinations.

*Message to any person who has come across this Dissertation –

We Mothers have to know what we are about. Since the world, especially the education establishment, largely holds the daily work we do in contempt, we need to stake our claim and stand tall, confident, and clear on what our efforts mean, not just to us, and our families, but to society as a whole. For anyone who is thinking about becoming a parent, please carefully consider the words that follow.

Blog Mom Magazine

TIGER MOTHERS, MORMON MOMMY BLOGGERS, and Happiness

Angela writes:

“By now, I’m pretty sure most of you have read both the infuriating/fascinatingTiger Mother article as well as the fascinating/infuriating Mormon Mommy Blogger article that have been making the rounds over the past couple of weeks. (If you haven’t read them yet, I’m left to assume that you’re too busy berating your children into practicing the piano and/or baking seemingly-ubiquitous Mormon Mommy cupcakes to bother with such things. I do not judge you.) Since my husband makes most of the cupcakes at our house and I let my kids quit piano lessons, I’ve had plenty of time to read both articles, as well as another fascinating (but not, in my opinion, infuriating) article in the New Yorker by David Brooks about brains, social science, relationships, and happiness….”

“…Being a Mormon means you’re around people. A lot. Generally speaking, we get married young, we have big families, we’re called to do things in a group setting that we’d never volunteer to do of our own free will (Webelos!). Being Mormon takes a lot of time. In addition to the aforementioned early marriages and quivers full of children and time consuming callings, we’re also asked to dedicate ourselves to other forms service (missions, cannery assignments, visiting and home teaching) and develop an inner spiritual life (scripture study, frequent meaningful prayer, temple attendance). The 5 Browns notwithstanding, it seems to me that achieving both tremendous worldly success while living the life of family, service, and sacrifice that the Church teaches us to strive for is very difficult, if not impossible, for most of us. (The 5 Browns seem like very happy, nice people. I am not judging them and am more than willing to concede they might be exceptions to the rule.)

“Happiness” is a tricky state to quantify, and all of us, Mormon or not, accomplished or average, will experience various levels of satisfaction and sadness throughout our lives. Some of us are naturally inclined to joy and exuberance, while others struggle to find happiness. Our personal happiness set-point is not an indication of our righteousness, but most often due to genetic and other circumstances outside our control. Even Elder Marlin K. Jensen admits in an excellent Ensign article on the subject of happiness that “although I am richly blessed and have every reason to be happy, I sometimes struggle and do not always have the natural inclination toward happiness and a cheerful disposition that some people seem to enjoy.”

However, each of us can optimize our happiness in this life. In addition to the blessings of eternal life, “happiness in this life” is meant to be one of the outcomes of living the gospel. I want my children to grow up with the greatest chance for happiness. I want to be happy myself. It’s easy in this world—even for Mormons—to get so swept up in the fervor of accomplishment, to think that “if only” we’d had the chance to become that world-famous or extraordinary [baseball player, novelist, CEO] we’d be happier, that if we don’t supply our kids with an endless parade of [Little Leauge, SAT tutoring, Suzuki method instruction] then THEY won’t be happy and, horror of horrors, will blame us. (They’ll probably blame us no matter what we do, right?) Of course, Little League and the Suzuki method can be components of a happy life, but when I fall for the idea that they’re necessary ingredients to a happy life, that’s when I seem to get off track.

Despite being immersed in Mormon theology and culture, I still have to remind myself more often than I’d like that these are the components of a happy life: love, family, service, faith. This is the Good News. The fact that it makes me feel okay about letting my kids quit piano lessons is just a bonus.”
